The Bound Shard Ritual allows a Ritual Caster to summon a minor Elemental entity from one of the Elemental Planes and bind it into service within the Targeted Item. Summoned Elementals are non-sentient and incapable of understanding or following any command or be communicated with in any way. Elementals bound by the Ritual Effect have no physical form when outside of the Target Item and cannot survive outside anywhere but their Native Plane, if they are somehow removed from the Item.

The desired Ritual Effect is determined by the Caster at the start of the Ritual casting and is based upon the Elemental entity sought. Items must be specifically created non-production tagged items to hold Bound Shards. This Ritual Effect can Target non-Game Items which are primarily furniture or tools. They cannot Target weapons, armor, shields or other production items.

If the Ritual Effect is Targeted with a Destroy Magic Ritual, the Elemental is destroyed but the Targeted Item remains unharmed (able to hold another Bound Shard, if desired). Attempting to Bind more than one Shard to a single Targeted Item causes the existing Shard to dissipate as if a Destroy Magic Ritual had been cast and will cause the Ritual to Backlash. Any attempt to remove or alter the Bound Elemental in any way causes the Shard to dissipate and be destroyed. Destruction of the Item the Shard is bound to will also cause the Shard to dissipate.

Bound Shards are an in-game rationale for many modern conveniences which are necessities for comfort or survival at Alliance LARP sites. Bound Shard items must be functioning physical representations of the desired object (ie a working stove to create a bound flame item). Celestial casters are able to examine items to determine if they are suitable for a Bound Shard Ritual and many items in the world, despite their quality, are not (such as Swords, Shields, or Jewelry).

This Ritual requires 2 reagents as listed on the scroll.
